Although many resorts say farewell to winter in late spring, Mammoth Mountain’s legendary spring skiing lasts through May and many years beyond! (weather dependent)
Mammoth spring skiing offers beautiful weather, discounted lift tickets, and less crowded access to the slopes. 1849 Mountain Rentals offers the best slopeside location in town along with guest services and amenities to make your stay as easy as possible. Before booking your end-of-season skiing trip in Mammoth Lakes, we’d like to share some helpful information and tips!
Why We Love Mammoth Lakes Spring Skiing
There are many reasons why we love spring skiing in Mammoth Lakes! First, the weather offers warmer days on the slopes. Imagine skiing in a light jacket or t-shirt as you enjoy the spring sunshine during your runs. Next, take advantage of the lift ticket deals offered in the off-season. Finally, the crowds dwindle this time of year so that you can enjoy an even more relaxed California atmosphere.
Canyon Lodge is Closed; Now What?
Even though the Mammoth Mountain’s closing date isn’t until May, Canyon and Eagle Lodge are closed for the season. This means that you will not be able to access the slopes from 1849 Mountain Rentals. No problem! Simply jump on the free bus to Main Lodge to access the lifts. Be sure to take a bag so you can shed layers throughout the day. There are plenty of lockers at Main Lodge.
How to Save Money on Your Mammoth Ski Vacation
Mammoth Mountain offers deals for late-season skiing. Keep an eye on MammothMountain.com for their latest offers. Spring is also the best time to upgrade your skis, boards, or boots. You can save up to 60% on previously used gear at any of Mammoth Mountain’s demo shops.
Helpful Tips About Spring Skiing in California
Spring skiing is quite different from the winter months, so we are here to provide you with some helpful tips!
- Spring brings unpredictable weather and conditions on the slopes. We recommend packing plenty of layers so you can take off clothes or put some on, depending on the temperature.
- The snow during the end of the season changes throughout the day. Early in the morning, the weather is cold enough to carve some corduroy, and by the afternoon, the snow is much softer and more challenging to ski.
- Just because it’s snowy doesn’t mean the sun can’t be harmful! We recommend using SPF 40+ sunblock and tinted goggles to protect your eye and skin from the intensified rays.
- Check the weather report and the lift & trail status before you hit the slopes. Be safe and have fun!
