Mammoth Mountain is your destination for year-round fun. In winter, you can spend time with your family skiing, snowboarding, and snow tubing down the mountain. And when the snow melts, a whole new set of adventures awaits. One of our favorite activities throughout the seasons is the scenic Mammoth Lakes Gondola. Ride up the mountain in style on the aerial tram and experience panoramic views, local history, and delicious meals at the top. Reserve your tickets online and stay close to the action with a condo rental from 1849 Mountain Rentals.
Mammoth Mountain Gondola
The Mammoth Mountain Gondola is open year-round, providing the perfect addition to your stay no matter when you visit. Board the gondola and take in 360-degree views of the Eastern Sierra as you ascend. But the fun doesn’t end there! Once you arrive at the top, several activities are available at your family’s fingertips. Best of all, kids 12 and under ride free, with each paying adult.
Winter Activities
Before booking your gondola ride, make sure to check the lift and trail status to confirm it’s open, especially after a big snowstorm.
- Take a family picture in front of the Summit sign
- Grab lunch at the Eleven 53 Cafe and admire the mountain views while enjoying homemade sandwiches, soup, chili, and snacks.
- After lunch, stroll through the interpretive center and engage in interactive exhibits on everything from volcanic history to cultural heritage.
Summer Activities
If you visit in the summertime, you can have even more fun at the summit. Eleven53 Cafe and the interpretive center are open year-round, but here are a few activities only available in the summertime:
- Take a self-guided tour to several different learning stations and learn about the fascinating geologic, natural, and cultural history of the region.
- On select days, you will find a U.S. Forest Service Naturalist at the interpretive center ready to answer questions on the region’s geologic history, wildlife, and plant life.
- Skip the strenuous hike up the mountain and hike down the mountain instead. Access scenic trails like the Twin Lakes Trail, St. Anton Trail, or Minaret Vista Trail.
