Devils Creek Distillery

Nestled in the heart of Mammoth Lakes, Devils Creek Distillery is owned and operated by John and Luan Mendel. Having pursued Devils Creek Distillery as a retirement passion after a 41-year career, the Mendels have turned their passion into a truly original family distillery in the Eastern Sierra. This family focus shines through as the name “Devils Creek Distillery” pays homage to Mrs. Mendel’s novel Yard Sale. The setting of her novel is the fictional ski town of Devils Creek, California which was used as the inspiration for the name of the business.

Devils Creek Distillery offers White Mountain rum and both California bourbon and rye whiskey guaranteed to please visiting connoisseurs. This boast is indeed backed by their award-winning line of spirits. Both their bourbon and rye whiskeys received the 2020 silver medal from Sunset Magazine. In addition, their bourbon received a 2020 silver medal from the American Distilling Institute while the rye received the 2020 bronze medal from the same organization.

Throughout the year, Devils Creek Distillery has limited hours and is opened to the public on Fridays and Saturdays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. During this time period, the distillery is opened for not only tastings of their spirit selections but for tours of their facility and distilling processes as well. Hours of operation tend to fluctuate based on holidays and private events. Ensure that you check their website or Facebook for the most up-to-date hours regarding both spirit tastings and touring the facility.
