Skadi
Skadi is easily one of the best international Mammoth Lakes restaurants, but it’s also one of the most exclusive. The ten-table restaurant offers a romantic, intimate setting with Northern European art adorning the walls.
Chef Ian Algerøen’s menu reflects his Norwegian heritage. Algerøen worked at a fine Northern Italian restaurant in San Francisco and as a Chef Tournant during game season at Switzerland’s Hotel Biberenbad.
Skadi is known for its unique, eclectic menu items, like the Canadian duck breast with lingonberries and spatzli, or the house-cured Gaviax. The restaurant also has an extensive wine list that’s sure to satisfy even the most discerning diners.
Due to its intimate setting, reservations are a must at Skadi – even on weekdays. Tables can be reserved via text or email, although text message is preferred.
If you really want to wow your sweetheart, Skadi is one of the best restaurants in Mammoth Mountain for Valentine’s Day or a romantic couple’s getaway. The restaurant is just five minutes from our Mammoth Mountain lodging.
Mammoth Rock Brasserie
Featuring a creative menu, Mammoth Rock Brasserie’s French-inspired menu includes seasonal ingredients that are locally sourced whenever possible. This hidden gem is one of the best restaurants in Mammoth, and it’s less than ten minutes from our Mammoth condos.
The main restaurant has casual upscale dining, while the downstairs lounge has a more relaxed, fun atmosphere.
Enjoy views of Mammoth Mountain and the Sherwin Range as you dine. Try the black angus filet mignon, or the elk medallions served with blueberry balsamic demi-glace and seasonal vegetables. Daily specials are available at market prices.
The wait staff is attentive, and the chef is known to make rounds to make sure everything is to your liking.
The elegant, romantic atmosphere, stunning views, and superb food make Mammoth Rock Brasserie a must-visit for couples.
The Brasserie is open Thursday through Monday from 5:30 pm until 9 pm. Reservations are recommended, as this restaurant can get quite busy.
If you’re looking for a more casual meal, head down to The Lounge where you can enjoy lighter appetizers, shareable plates, pizza, burgers, and more. While casual, The Lounge’s menu is above and beyond what you might expect.
Try the Rigatoni Bolognese, the Truffle Parmesan fries or the Traditional Escargot a la Bourguignon.
Petra’s Bistro and Wine Bar
Serving contemporary American cuisine, Petra’s Bistro and Wine Bar offers an elegant atmosphere with a friendly staff. Choose from more than 350 wines by the bottle and 30 wines by the glass.
The bistro offers a variety of entrees, appetizers, and shareable plates. Try the Charcuterie Plate, with serrano ham, Spanish chorizo, and smoked duck breast. The duck confit is a favorite and is served with mushroom leek goat cheese, fried leeks, risotto and stone ground mustard sauce. For an entrée, try the salmon, coq au vin or Bolognese. The Gnocchi is another favorite menu item.
Complete the meal with a chocolate mousse and a final glass of wine.
Petra’s has a cozy but intimate setting with a large fireplace in the corner. Guests can choose to dine at a romantic table for two or relax on the love seat sofas to share a drink and meal. The friendly staff makes this bistro and wine bar even more inviting.
Although Petra’s is considered upscale fine dining, the bistro has a welcoming atmosphere.
Petra’s is open Monday through Sunday from 5 pm to 9 pm. Consider making a reservation to ensure that you and your sweetie have a table waiting when you arrive.
