Mammoth Lakes’ 4th of July is always spectacular, and 2023 will be a year to remember for the 1849 Mountain Rentals team! Our management team, Cheryl and Rob Witherill, are thrilled to usher in the annual 4th of July parade as this year’s Grand Marshals! This will be the Witherills last 4th of July in Mammoth Lakes, and we invite you to say farewell to them before they embark on their next exciting adventure.
A Brief Biography of the Witherills
Rob and Cheryl Witherill have been vital members of the Mammoth Lakes community for over 20 years! Cheryl has been the general manager of 1849 Mountain Rentals since 2007, taking over after the retirement of our owner Bob Tanner. In addition to being general managers, the pair have been very active in the community.
Rob was a part of the Mammoth Lakes Fire Department for 15 years, serving as Captain since 2017. Cheryl has sat on many committees during her time here, including the Lodging Association, Town of Mammoth Lakes Enforcement Committee, Destination Marketing Organization, MLT Board, and the NOW Foundation Board. Finally, they also owned Mammoth Kayaks and delivered watercraft rentals to the area lake for 14 years. After 20 years of serving our community, the Witherills are preparing for their next chapter in Wisconsin to be closer to their family!

Mammoth Lakes Parade Grand Marshals: The Witherills
When: July 4th from 11 am-12:30 pm
Where: Parade begins at the intersection of Old Mammoth Road and Chateau Road. The parade ends at Manzanita Road and Main Street.
Join us this summer and say goodbye to Witherills as they celebrate their last 4th of July in Mammoth Lakes. The Witherills will be on the property until June 15th and returning for the parade before they travel back to Wisconsin. Every year the town selects Grand Marshals from the community to usher in the parade, and we are honored that the Witherill’s have been chosen for 2023. They are humbled by this opportunity to be able to wave goodbye to the people who have helped shape their lives!
